Mustapha Dumbuya Named to USL Championship Team of the Week

PHOENIX - Phoenix Rising defender Mustapha Dumbuya was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 24 of the 2019 USL Championship season the league announced today. Teammate Solomon Asante earned an honorable mention.

Dumbuya scored his first goal of the 2019 season in addition to winning five of six duels, three of four tackles, and making three interceptions in Phoenix Rising's 4-2 win over Reno 1868 FC. Asante scored a brace to bring his season total to 18 goals, one shy of the club record for most goals scored in a season.

This is the 18th week overall and tenth consecutive week this season a Rising FC player has been recognized by the league. This is the first time in 2019 Dumbuya has been recognized by the league and he's the third defender to make the team of the week (A.J. Cochran in Week 6 and Amadou Dia in Week 17). Asante has now been recognized by the league nine times this season.

Phoenix Rising returns to Casino Arizona Field this Friday for a Bud Light $1 Beer Night against Sacramento Republic FC. The match will air live on Your PHX CW (channels 6 & 61.1) and online at ArizonaSports.com with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,500 fans will receive a free black t-shirt courtesy of Valley Metro. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets to the match at PHXRisingFC.com
