August 20, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Ottawa Fury FC News Release
OTTAWA - Ottawa Fury FC forward Christiano François earned a spot on the USL Championship Team of the Week for week 24, the league announced Tuesday, following a great performance on the weekend. Francois had one goal and one assist, completed 3 of 5 dribbles and had five shots overall as Fury FC took a 3-1 victory against Loudoun United FC on Saturday night.
The first new signing for Fury FC ahead of the 2019 campaign, Christiano François was also one of the touted exciting new additions for this season. His pace and ability to take players on, one of the best in the USL Championship, has been in full display in Ottawa's first half of the season and have seen the speedy Haitian's lead to many of Fury FC's scoring opportunities. He currently has seven goals and five assists in 22 regular-season games, in addition to his one goal and one assist in this year's Canadian Championship run. This is his second selection on the Team of the Week starting formation (Week 11), and a third accounting for his bench selection in Week 13.
Entering the second half of the USL Championship season still in the hunt for a good playoff position, Ottawa Fury FC is sitting in the 8th rank, only 7 points off a top 4 spot. Fury FC will host Saint Louis FC this Saturday at TD Place (KO 2 p.m.) looking to lineup more wins and climb the standings.
