August 20, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Nashville SC News Release

TAMPA - Pinpoint crosses and dangerous wing play in both of Nashville SC's matches last week earned defender Taylor Washington a spot on the USL Championship Team of Week. It is Washington's first Team of the Week honor since joining Nashville SC prior to the 2018. Joining Washington with a weekly honor was Daniel Ríos who was named to the Team of the Week bench for the second consecutive week.

Washington was both dynamic offensively and strong defensively for Nashville in its 3-1 win over Charlotte Independence on Saturday. The left back from New York completed five of his eight crosses in the match, created eight chances for his team including one assist, and had a passing percentage of 86%.

The assist Washington earned in the match was his second in the last two weeks after also assisting on Nashville SC's opening goal against Hartford Athletic on August 7. The two assists are Washington's second and third of his career and first since his rookie season in the USL Championship in 2015.

Ríos, meanwhile, scored twice in Nashville SC's victory, putting four of his six shots on target. Nashville's first MLS signee kept pace in the Golden Boot race remaining just one goal behind league leader Solomon Asante of Phoenix Rising FC. Despite scoring 17 goals in 24 matches this season, leading the Eastern Conference, Ríos has been named to just one Team of the Week XI, but has made numerous honorary appearances on the Team of the Week bench.

Washington, Ríos and the rest of Nashville SC will be back in action on Wednesday night at First Tennessee Park in a battle for first place with New York Red Bulls II, presented by Budweiser. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and tickets are available for as low as $5.
