THOMASSVILLE, N.C. - Martinsville sent 11 hitters to the plate and scored six runs in the second inning of Friday night's game to cruise past the HiToms 11-5 at Finch Field.

The Mustangs (12-13) got some big hits off Kurt Giller (L, 1-1) in the second inning as Nick Ferdinand singled home a run while Justin Sizemore contributed with a two-run single in the frame. However, the biggest hit of the night came from Eli Hynes who hammered a ball over the wall in right field to cap the six-run inning for Martinsville.

The HiToms (15-9) tried to pull back in the game with a couple of home runs, the first, a solo shot from Garrett Koster leading off the third to make it 6-1.

However, the Mustangs answered right back in the fifth with a three-run double off Prestyon Lyon's bat to make it 9-1. The Tommies would close the gap to 9-3 in the fifth on a DeSeaun Anderson two-run long ball but it wasn't enough.

The Mustangs added a pair of runs in the sixth before the HiToms tried to make a comeback in the ninth as they scored two runs but couldn't complete the rally as they fell to Martinsville 11-5.

The Tommies travel to Asheboro for the final time tomorrow night with first pitch set for 7:05. They return to Finch Field on Tuesday night at 6:00 when they host the Copperheads in a doubleheader.
