Sioux City Musketeers News Release

Waterloo, IA - The Sioux City Musketeers wrap up pre-season action today at Young Arena in Waterloo, Iowa when they take on the Dubuque Fighting Saints at 11:00am.

The Musketeers, 3-0-1 in pre-season action, lost 3-2 in a shootout yesterday afternoon in Waterloo to a Cedar Rapids team that returns a duo of veteran goaltenders from last season. The Musketeers trailed 2-1 late in the game until Brian Rigali found the back of the net on a screened shot from the crease that tied the game and sent it into overtime.

The two teams could not decide an outcome in the new 7 minute overtime format, where each side skates with 4 skaters and a goaltender until the first whistle after 3 minutes have elapsed, and then skate with 3 skaters and a goaltender apiece for the remainder of overtime.

Cedar Rapids scored on 1 of 2 attempts in the shootout, while Ryan Larkin held 3 Musketeer shooters at bay for the win.

The Saints, who are 3-1-1 in pre-season play, have scored 22 goals while allowing 17 in five games played. The Musketeers have scored 14 goals while allowing 7 in 4 games played.

The game will be broadcast live on the internet via FASTHockey. The game will not be on local radio in Sioux City.
