Sioux City Musketeers News Release
SIOUX CITY, IA - The Musketeers were back in action against Sioux Falls on Friday night, and their struggles against the Herd continued, dropping this one by a final score of 6-2.
Sioux City would come out quick again in this one and took a 1-0 lead just 2:30 into the game. Nolan Krenzen made a nice cut towards the middle and fired a shot that beat Alec Calvaruso for Krenzen's fourth goal of the season. Matt Miller and Devlin McCabe had assists on the play.
Sioux Falls would answer right back just over three minutes later when Blake Bride put one past Ben Kraws to tie the game at one. Sioux Falls would take the lead just 7 seconds later when Anthony Romano jammed home a rebound to put Sioux Falls up 2-1. The Stampede would cap the period with their third goal of the frame at the 18:35 mark.
Things did not get much better for the Musketeers in the 2nd period. Carl Berglund and Artem Ivanyuzhenkov both scored to give the Stampede a 5-1 lead.
Ian Malcomson would give Sioux City some life early in the 3rd when he scored off a nice one-time shot to cut the Stampede lead to 5-2. Unfortunately, that would be all the offense Sioux City could find. Cade Borchardt added an empty net goal at the 18:30 mark to seal the 6-2 victory for the Stampede.
Ben Kraws had 26 saves for the Musketeers while Calvaruso stopped 19 of 21 for the Stampede.
The Musketeers will now head on the road for a very tough game against the Waterloo Black Hawks tomorrow night before returning to Sioux City for a 3:00 pm against Sioux Falls on Sunday.
