NEWS & NOTES:
- TaleSpin - The Carolina Mudcats defeated Lynchburg 5-2 thanks to 12 hits and five errors by the Hillcats' defense. Kyle Petter picked up his first win, and Jose Flores notched his league-leading fifth save. Jesus Aguilar was 4x4, and Tyler Cannon had two hits and two RBI.
- KaBlam! - After going hitless in four straight games, Jesus Aguilar has put together a four-game hitting streak. He has homered in two of those. Aguilar is coming off a four-hit performance against the Hillcats.
- Duck Tales - The Mudcats were just 3x20 with Runners in Scoring Position (RISP) in Wednesday's 5-2 win against Lynchburg. For the year, the team is hitting .245. Jeremie Tice has come through the most, averaging .375(6x16) with 14 RBI. Jake Lowery is the best with RISP/2 outs, hitting .500 (5x10).
- Top Cat - Right-hander Shawn Armstrong has been lights out since his promotion from A-Lake County. The New Bern, NC, native has appeared in six games, and totaled 14.1 consecutive scoreless innings. He has struck out 17 and scattered seven hits. Armstrong earned his first save on April 30 against Lynchburg.
