NEWS & NOTES:
- Last Time Out - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans swept the Carolina Mudcats in a doubleheader at TicketReturn.com Field. The Pelicans won game one 2-1 thanks to a bases loaded walk in the eighth. Game two was all Myrtle Beach, winning 10-1.
- Snapped - The doubleheader loss saw several Mudcats streaks go by the wayside. Jesus Aguilar had his nine-game hitting streak halted. Jeremie Tice and Tony Wolters lost their five-game hitting streaks. Shawn Armstrong allowed his first run after seven scoreless appearances.
- K (O'd) - Myrtle Beach pitchers fanned a total of 21 Mudcats in 15 innings Thursday night. Cody Buckel and Joe Van Meter had seven apiece. Carolina went 10 innings with only one base runner, a walk to Tyler Holt.
- On a "Rayl" - Starting lefty Mike Rayl had another quality outing for Carolina, holding the Pelicans to one run over seven innings. The Lake Worth, FL, native has allowed one run or less in five of his last six starts.
- Keep on Truckin' - Center fielder Tyler Holt increased his on-base streak to 18 games. He enters the series against Potomac with a five-game hitting streak, and has a hit in eight of his last nine.
- Enjoy the Lead - The 2-1 setback in game one against Myrtle Beach was only the second time Carolina lost a game in which the Mudcats scored first. They own a league-best winning percentage of .833 (10-2) when taking the first lead of a game.
