Jacksonville, FL --- Bryan Peterson tripled home a pair of runs as part of a three-run sixth inning to lead Jacksonville past Carolina 6-3 at the Baseball Grounds on Tuesday night.

Carolina (19-33) scored three times in the top of the sixth against Graham Talyor to tie the score at 3-3, but the Suns (35-17) broke through against the Carolina bullpen. Zach Ward (L, 0-4), making his first relief appearance since being shuttled out of the rotation, allowed a pair of doubles to the three batters he faced, including an exploded-bat dribbling double inside first to break the tie. Joseph Krebs relieved Ward, but walked the first batter he faced before Peterson chased a triple to left-center to score two runs.

Carolina mustered just one hit over the final three innings of the game against relievers Garrett Parcell, Kasey Olenberger and closer Matt Peterson. The trio combined to strike out the final eight outs of the game, including six straight to end the game.

Tom Cochran worked five innings in the start, allowing only three hits and four walks to go with two earned runs.

Zack Cozart and Sean Henry led the offense with a pair of hits, including Henry's 20th double.

The series continues Wednesday night with Jerry Gil (2-1, 8.47) starting against Nic Ungs (8-2, 2.20) at 7:05 PM ET.
