Birmingham Barons and Akron Aeros to Play 7-Game, Computer Generated Series

Birmingham Barons News Release
HOOVER, AL - The "what if" scenarios have dominated the sports talk landscape for decades. "What if the Red Sox didn't trade Babe Ruth?" "What if Michael Jordan didn't retire from basketball in 1993?" "What if John Elway signed with the Baltimore Colts?"
The Birmingham Barons and the Akron Aeros have been asking their own what if question throughout 2009. What if the Barons and the Aeros were to play a seven game series? Who would win?
Thanks to WhatIfSports.Com, the two Double A franchises can finally get the "if" out. The fantasy sports website will insert 25-man rosters from each organization, and using statistical formulas will determine what would happen in a seven game series between the two teams. The rosters can consist of any players that played with the team during the 2009 season, not including players who joined the team on rehab assignments.
The Birmingham Barons (Double A, Chicago White Sox) currently hold the top record in Double A Baseball while the Akron Aeros (Double A, Cleveland Indians) currently hold the second best record in Double A Baseball. The two teams have held the top two records at the Double A level since the middle of May.
"I believe that we're best team in Double A Baseball," Barons General Manager Jonathon Nelson said. "Looking at Akron's record, I'm sure they believe they're the best team at this level. This is just a fun, quirky idea to settle that debate once and for all."
