Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BUGS FALTER VS. TULSA – On Friday night, the Mudbugs struggled against the Tulsa Oilers and suffered their fourth straight home loss, 5-1 at the CenturyTel Center. The loss also ended the Mudbugs' three game winning streak. Dan Gravelle gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead at 14:02 of the first period by redirecting a puck off his skate past goaltender Jeff Blair. Scott Sheppard would answer early in the second period with a nice assist from Dan Wildfong, but Olivier Maltais scored twice later in the middle frame to give Tulsa a 3-1 lead. In the third period, Chris Page and Dallas Steward added insurance for the Oilers who snapped a three-game losing streak and picked up two power play goals on the night. Tulsa outshot the Mudbugs, who had just nine shots on goal through two periods, 29-16 in the contest.

COMPLETE ‘180' – After a disappointing effort, the Mudbugs responded on Saturday night with a dominant 4-1 win over the Oklahoma City Blazers in front of 6,569 fans at the CenturyTel Center. The victory snapped a four-game home winless streak for the Mudbugs, who improved to 6-4-2 overall this season. Dan Wildfong continued his red hot pace with a power play goal at 8:48 of the first period and rookie defenseman Matt Nicholson scored his first professional goal midway through the second to make it 2-0. The second period explosion would continue with Forbes MacPherson scoring the Mudbugs' first shorthanded goal of the year and then it was Ryan Manitowich scoring on a beautiful move across the slot. Ken Carroll improved to 4-1-0 for the Mudbugs by making 18 saves, including a late breakaway stop on NHL forward Brenden Morrow.
