Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BACK ON TRACK VS. INDY – Wednesday marked the conclusion of the Mudbugs' longest road trip of the season with a solid 5-2 win over the Indianapolis Ice at the Pepsi Coliseum. Forbes MacPherson scored on the power play just 2:39 into the game, but Mario Doyon answered with a five-on-three power play goal for the Ice. In the second period, Chad Spurr danced past Ice goaltender Jeff Sanger to give the Mudbugs the lead they would not surrender. The line of Brassard-Spurr-Soke then took control of the game in the third period and finished the night with a combined nine points. Jeff Blair also made 41 saves to improve to 11-1-0 since joining the Mudbugs in November. After returning to Bossier-Shreveport, the Mudbugs had traveled a total of 3,675 miles by bus.

SOKE WINS IT IN ROUND TEN – On Friday night, the Mudbugs came from behind in the third period to defeat the Indianapolis Ice for the second time in three days. David Oliver started the scoring in the first period with a power play goal at 3:13 after a beautiful pass from Craig Minard. However, Ryan Carter tied the game with a shorthanded breakaway goal just five minutes later. After the Ice took a 3-1 lead midway through the third period, Chad Spurr scored twice in separate four-on-four situations to tie the game with just five minutes remaining. After a scoreless overtime session, the Mudbugs and Ice each scored twice in the first three rounds of the shootout. Then goaltenders Jeff Blair and Jeff Sanger took charge as each made six consecutive shootout saves. In the tenth round, Blair stopped Indy's Jason Selleke and Craig Soke scored the game-winner.

ANOTHER HOME GAME, ANOTHER WIN – The Mudbugs won their 11th straight home game on Saturday night as they defeated the Memphis RiverKings 2-1 in front of 5,936 fans. After a scoreless first period, Forbes MacPherson gave the Mudbugs the lead with a power play goal after a costly Memphis giveaway. David Oliver then scored again with the man advantage as he banged in a rebound past RiverKings goaltender Mike Minard. Jonathan Gagnon scored a third period shorthanded goal to cut the Mudbugs' lead in half, but Ken Carroll made several key saves down the stretch and preserved the win to improve his record to 18-9-2.
