Indianapolis Ice News Release
PLAYOFF PUSH: Despite the team's current 0-3-1 winless skid, the Ice still remains part of the five-team race for the final two playoff spots in the Northern Conference. Colorado and Bossier-Shreveport seem to have a firm grip on the top two spots in the conference, while Memphis, New Mexico, Indianapolis, Oklahoma City and Wichita are all within seven points of each other for the final two berths. In addition, the four teams trailing Memphis have multiple games in hand with the RiverKings.
GO SPEED RACER: In the third period of Saturday's comeback attempt against the Austin Ice Bats, the Ice managed to score three goals in a time period of 44 seconds to tie the game at six, which became the new franchise record for fastest three goals in a game. The three quick lamplighters by Ryan Carter, Remi Royer and Jim Shepherd was better than the previous CHL mark of 1:31 set on 11/5/00 vs Fayetteville (Ken Boone, Yvan Corbin and Brandon Lafrance) and the all-time best IHL mark of 52 seconds set back on 3/23/91 at Kansas City (Mike Stapleton, Sean Williams and Alex Roberts).
ISLAND PARTY: During this Saturday's contest against the Fort Worth Brahmas, the Ice will be hosting an "Island Party" from the Pepsi Coliseum sponsored by the Hoosier Lottery, Red Stripe Beer and Super Clubs Resorts. The party will feature a live reggae band, Jamaican dancers, a Rastafarian Fire Eater, Limbo Contest and much more. In addition, fans are encouraged to wear their best tropical attire and some lucky fans will have a chance to win a Caribbean vacation.
