Mudbugs "Hockey 101" Radio Broadcast this Saturday

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- On Saturday February 7th, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will host the San Angelo Saints at 7:05 p.m. at the CenturyTel Center and fans in attendance will have a unique opportunity to follow the rules of the game of hockey. With this season's new in-house radio signal, the Mudbugs will host a special "Hockey 101" broadcast for fans to follow the game with their headset radios.
As opposed to the standard commentary during the radio broadcast, Mudbugs play-by-play broadcaster Steve Mears and former Mudbugs defenseman Greg Foster will describe the rules of hockey as each play happens during the game against San Angelo. All fans are encouraged to bring their headset radios to the CenturyTel Center, tune into 108 FM and follow the broadcast, which will be patterned from ESPN's "Hockey Rules" telecasts. Questions can be submitted prior to the game via e-mail at mudbugsradio@aol.com.
"I would certainly like to encourage everyone to bring their radios and headphones to the game and follow the action as Greg and I describe the rules of hockey," said Mudbugs Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting Steve Mears. "A lot of fans have questions about the game that come up as they're watching it live, so hopefully we can answer some of those on the air and have some fun with it as well."
108 FM is the Mudbugs' in-arena-only broadcast frequency which, for the first time ever, allows fans to watch the game inside the CenturyTel Center and listen to the radio broadcast at the same time this season. The structure of many buildings, including the CenturyTel Center, does not allow a standard AM signal to enter inside. Outside the arena, the broadcast will air on the Mudbugs' flagship radio station, KWKH AM 1130. The game can also be viewed on CHL-TV, the league-wide internet video service, at www.chltv.com which will also feature the "Hockey 101" broadcast.
Tomorrow the Mudbugs will host the Fort Worth Brahmas at 7:05 p.m. at the CenturyTel Center. Then on Friday, the Mudbugs will travel to Memphis to meet the RiverKings at 7:05 p.m. at the DeSoto Civic Center, before hosting San Angelo on Saturday for the "Hockey 101" Radio Broadcast.
