CRAZY BOUNCE LEADS TO SHOOTOUT LOSS â The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs suffered a 7-6 shootout loss on Thursday against the Wichita Thunder. The Thunder grabbed an early 3-1 lead in the first period thanks to three points from Jason Duda and took a 5-3 lead into the third period. The Bugs then exploded for three straight goals midway through the third, including two goals 21 seconds apart, to take a 6-5 lead. With 1:14 left in the third and Wichita netminder Patrik Lovisek pulled, Tom Gomes' center ice dump-in hit a divider in the glass and deflected into the Mudbugs net as G Jonathan Forest left to play the puck around the boards. After a scoreless overtime, Duda added his fourth point of the night with the game-winning shootout goal to give Wichita their second win of the year.
BRANCH SHUTS OUT MUDBUGS...AGAIN â Tulsa goaltender Rod Branch recorded his second shutout of the season against the Mudbugs on Friday night in a 3-0 win at the Tulsa Convention Center. The Oilers' leading scorer Todd Marcellus led the way with two goals and Pat Hallett finished the scoring in the third period for Tulsa. Ken Carroll suffered the loss for the Mudbugs, despite making 26 saves. The shutout was Branch's fourth of the season and his 11th win of the year. The loss was the Mudbugs' first regulation loss in seven games.
CONTROVERSY IN WICHITA â Saturday night, the Mudbugs and Wichita Thunder met in another wild game which featured a controversial 4-3 final outcome with Wichita on top in a shootout. With goals from Jason Basile, Tony Bergin, and Mark Rupnow, the Mudbugs took a 3-2 lead into the final seconds of the third period. Wichita continued their attack with the goaltender pulled until the final horn had sounded. Jason Duda appeared to fire a puck past Ken Carroll after the buzzer, but referee Jeff Huber signaled a goal. After a scoreless overtime, the Thunder scored twice in the shootout to claim a 4-3 win. Duda finished the weekend with six points in three games against the Mudbugs.

ROSTER MOVE â On Friday, the Mudbugs placed D Luc Theoret on Injured Reserve. The also announced the addition of F Derek Kern to the roster for the game against Tulsa. Kern joins the Mudbugs from the Texarkana Bandits and is a graduate of Oswego State University (Oswego, NY). Kern stands at 5'8 170 pounds and hails from Smithtown, New York.
THIS WEEK â This Thursday, the Mudbugs will be at home to meet the Corpus Christi Ice Rays for the first time this season. They will then travel to Memphis to take on the first-place RiverKings on Friday night for the fifth time this year. The two teams will then meet at the CenturyTel Center for a Saturday night rematch at 7:05.
