
Baines Named CHL Player of the Week

ALBUQUERQUE - The Central Hockey League announced today that New Mexico Scorpions winger Tyler Baines has been named the league's Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Nov. 17. The 25 year-old native of Lethbridge, Alberta led the Scorpions this weekend with nine points (3g-6a) in just three games, all on the road.
Baines is currently second on the team in scoring with 14 points (4g-10a). He posted a career-best five points with a goal and four assists in Friday's 6-3 win at El Paso. Baines scored a goal in Saturday's overtime loss at Odessa before notching a goal and two helpers in yesterday's 7-4 win at San Angelo. He currently has a three-game goal scoring streak.
"Tyler really stepped up for us over the weekend," said Scorpions Head Coach/Vice President of Hockey Operations Pat Dunn, "and it's great to see him recognized by the league. I'm confident he will continue to perform well for us this week as we have three big games on the schedule."
Baines and the Scorpions conclude their four-game road trip tomorrow as they visit the Tulsa Oilers. Faceoff is 6:05 p.m. MST, and the game can be heard on SportsRadio 610 The Sports Animal beginning at 5:50 p.m. with the Voice of the Scorpions Mike Sheehan.
The Scorpions return home to Tingley Coliseum for games on Friday, Nov. 22 against El Paso and Saturday, Nov. 23 against Tulsa. Faceoff both nights is 7:05 p.m. Saturday's game is ALLTEL Team Photo Night for the first 1,500 fans through the doors. In addition, the Scorpions' wives and girlfriends will be holding a food drive to benefit the Roadrunner Food Bank. Fans are asked to bring nonperishable food items to Saturday's game against the Oilers.
