Mudbugs Unveil 2010-2011 Schedule
July 23, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League and its 18 member teams, today announced their 66-game schedule for the 2010-11 CHL regular season. The 14th season of Mudbugs hockey will begin at home on Friday, October 15 and conclude on Saturday, March 26.
Starting with opening night against the Mississippi RiverKings on October 15, the 'Bugs will host 25 weekend home games this season including 12 Fridays, ten Saturdays and three Sunday afternoons. Only eight of Bossier-Shreveport's 33 home dates will fall on weekdays, with those games now starting half an hour earlier at 6:35 pm for added convenience.
In their first season of competition in the CHL's Southern Conference, the Mudbugs will play 49 games against conference opponents, with only 17 contests coming against teams from the North. Rivalries will be in full swing again this year as the 'Bugs face the Texas Brahmas 11 times, the Allen Americans ten times and the RiverKings nine times.
Out of the 17 opponents in the league, 13 will visit Bossier City at least once to play the Mudbugs at CenturyTel Center. The rival Laredo Bucks will make three trips to the CTC throughout the year, while Bossier-Shreveport plays four times in Laredo. The 'Bugs will enjoy a pair of six-game homestands in the second half of the season, while their longest road trip will be a six-game swing in January.
This season will also feature the first-ever games between the Mudbugs and the International Hockey League teams who are new to the league. The three-time defending IHL Champion Fort Wayne Komets will visit the CTC for two games in late January, while the Bloomington PrarieThunder, Dayton Gems and Evansville Icemen will all appear in front of the Mudbugs faithful as well during the year. The Arizona Sundogs and Quad City Mallards are the only two teams that Bossier-Shreveport does not face in 2010-2011.
In a rematch of the 2010 CHL Northern Conference Finals, the 'Bugs will visit the defending Ray Miron President's Cup Champion Rapid City Rush on Friday, January 7. The next night, Bossier-Shreveport will visit the Budweiser Events Center for the first time since sweeping the Colorado Eagles in last year's conference semifinal round.
