Colorado Eagles News Release

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Central Hockey League released today its 2010-11 regular season schedule. The Eagles will be one of six teams hosting an opening night game on Oct. 15 when they take on the Arizona Sundogs. Colorado will also see plenty of the CHL-champion Rapid City Rush as they're slated to take on their biggest rival a dozen times (six at home).

The CHL's new 18-team format has resulted to a fairly even schedule for Colorado, which will play all 17 other teams at least once. Eagles fans will have the opportunity to see 13 different opponents at the Budweiser Events Center (Bloomington, Dayton, Quad City & Texas will not make the trip to Loveland), with only two teams (Rapid City: 6 & Missouri: 5) playing five or more games at the BEC. Meanwhile the Eagles will travel to every opposing venue except five (Bossier-Shreveport, Evansville, Laredo, Mississippi & Rio Grande Valley).

As for long stretches of home or road games, the expanded slate of teams translated fairly evenly there as well. Throughout the entire season, there are only two occasions in which the Eagles will be playing five or more games in a row at home or on the road. Their longest homestand will consist of five games between Dec. 10 - Dec. 22, while they'll hit the road for an 11-day, seven-game road trip from Jan. 21 - Jan. 30 (Colorado will play just two home games between Jan. 16 and Feb. 11). The league's new 66-game schedule also affected Colorado in that over half of their games (35) will come after the All-Star break and that they will end the season with a four-game road trip.

All Eagles home games will be played at the Budweiser Events Center and every one except their game on Saturday, January 8 will start at 7:05 p.m.; that game will begin one hour later at 8:05 p.m. due to a scheduling conflict.

Further details about an exciting preseason matchup will be released soon.

Notables About the Eagles' 2010-11 Schedule

The Eagles will open their 8th season with a pair of back-to-back games against the Arizona Sundogs. Last season, Colorado opened the year with back-to-back home games against the Texas Brahmas.

The Eagles' longest homestand will occur from Dec. 10 - Dec. 22 when they play five games in a row at the Budweiser Events Center.

The Eagles' longest road trip will occur from Jan. 21 - Jan. 30 when they play seven games in a row away from home.

Colorado's home schedule will be light shortly after the All-Star break as they will only have two home games between Jan. 16 & Feb. 11.

All 33 home games except one will be played on a Wednesday, Friday or Saturday; the Eagles will host the Mavericks on Sunday, Feb. 13.

Also an exception, the Eagles will have only one home game that does not start at 7:05 p.m. -- the puck will drop at 8:05 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8.

The Eagles will play 35 games against teams in the North Conference, including 12 against rival Rapid City (6 home, 6 away) -- their most against any opponent. Arizona will be seen the second-most times with nine (4 at home, 5 away).
