Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

ALLEN, TX - The Allen Americans scored the game ‚¬â„¢s first three goals and never looked back on their way to a 6-2 victory over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Tuesday night at the Allen Events Center. The loss drops Bossier-Shreveport below Allen for first place in the Berry Conference entering a nine-day break for the club.

Jeff Kyrzakos and Jamie Milam scored goals for the Mudbugs, who fell to 1-5 against their closest geographical neighbor this season. John DeCaro played the first period but was replaced by Brian Foster as the Americans scored five times on their first 16 shots of the game.

Allen jumped out to the early lead when Scott Langdon scored in the first minute of the contest. Dave Bonk buried a nice centering feed from Judd Blackwater at 11:24 and then David Nimmo tucked in a powerplay rebound in the final minute of the period to make it 3-0 Americans. Right off the ensuing faceoff however, Travis Clayton and Shawn Limpright combined to get the puck into the slot to Kyrzakos, who snuck his tenth goal of the year through Scott Campbell ‚¬â„¢s five-hole to get the ‚¬ËœBugs on the board with ten seconds left in the opening frame.

The Mudbugs outshot Allen 12-7 in the second period, but it was the Americans who scored twice more to extend the lead to 5-1 entering the third period. Colton Yellow Horn drove to the front and Kip Brennan stuffed the puck into the net at 3:16 and then David Simoes re-directed a pass off Foster ‚¬â„¢s skate and in at 17:05 to put Bossier-Shreveport down by four.

The ‚¬ËœBugs cut into the lead with a powerplay goal at 13:35 of the third as Jamie Milam netted a back-door feed from Steven Crampton to make it 5-2. Bossier-Shreveport would get no closer however before Simoes ‚¬â„¢ second goal of the night iced it for Allen with just over two minutes remaining.

John DeCaro (8-4-0) took the loss after stopping six of nine shots in the first period, while Foster made 15 saves on 19 shots over the last two periods. Scott Campbell (3-0-0) turned aside 23 shots as Allen outshot Bossier-Shreveport 27-25. The Mudbugs converted one of four powerplay opportunities, while the Americans scored on one of five.

The ‚¬ËœBugs will now have a lengthy nine-day break through the holiday before they return to action against the Texas Brahmas on New Year ‚¬â„¢s Eve at the NyTex Sports Centre. The Mudbugs will then return home to face the Mississippi RiverKings at 7:05 pm on New Year ‚¬â„¢s Day as we retire the jersey #11 of former player and current General Manager Jason "Soupy" Campbell.
