Allen Americans News Release
ALLEN, Texas- The Allen Americans and Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will play tonight at the Allen Event Center in the final game before both teams will get to enjoy time with friends and family for the holidays. This is no ordinary contest, however, as the winner could have the most points in the Central Hockey League heading into the Christmas break.
The Mudbugs (19-9-0, 38 points) have struggled against the Americans (18-5-1, 37 points) thus far in 2010-11, losing four of five contests between the two clubs. A 5-4 decision went the way of the Americans the last time the two squads skated in Allen, with Tobias Whelan netting the game-winning goal.
The 'Bugs offense packs quite the punch, with only the Americans averaging more goals per game this season. Leading the way thus far has been veteran winger Justin Aikins (11+2637) and second year 'Bug David Rutherford (19+1433). Bossier-Shreveport has gone with a solid goaltending duo for the last two months, after October saw a plethora of issues between the pipes due to call-ups and injury. Brian Foster (8-4-0) and John DeCaro (8-3-0) have supplied solid performances for the club in split-time.
Allen's offensive attack, which is number one in the Central Hockey League with 4 goals per game, will provide a test for whichever goaltender gets the nod for the Mudbugs. Bruce Graham (11+1526) leads a well-balanced offense for the red and white, followed closely by Judd Blackwater (11+1425), Nino Musitelli (12+1224) and Colton Yellow Horn (9+1524).
With Chris Whitley on the shelf, the goaltending job has fallen in the capable hands of Adrien LeMay (8-2-1) and newcomer Scott Campbell (2-0-0).
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30, with all fans in attendance receiving a schedule poster courtesy of Dr. Ross Miller. All kids in attendance will receive Allen Americans Silly Bandz, courtesy of Allen Eye Associates.
