Mudbugs to Feature Scouts, Honor Military this Weekend

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are at home to host great events and a pair of exciting hockey games this weekend at the CenturyTel Center! Friday is "Scout Night" against Rio Grande Valley and Saturday's game vs. Laredo is our annual "Military Appreciation Night".
The Mudbugs and Killer Bees will face-off for the second time this year at 7:05 pm Friday, presented by International Used Truck Center of Shreveport. We'll be welcoming and recognizing boy and girl scouts from all over the Ark-La-Tex for our first "Scout Night" of the season, and they'll be featured in many of our in-game activities.
Friday will also be your first chance to vote on the Mudbugs 2010-11 "Fans' Choice Charity". Six different local charities are candidates to be featured during our Fans' Choice Charity game on Friday, January 28 vs. Fort Wayne. Starting on Friday and continuing through January 1, fans can vote on which of the following charities gets to take center stage that night: Arc of Caddo-Bossier, American Heart Association, Community Foundation of Shreveport-Bossier, the
Shreveport
Shriners Hospital for Children,
Special Olympics of Northwest Louisiana or United Way of Northwest Louisiana.
Saturday's 7:05 game vs. rival Laredo marks our annual "Military Appreciation Night" presented by McKay Consulting, where we honor members of our nation's armed services both past and present. As the Mudbugs and Bucks battle it out on the ice, we'll be recognizing the men and women who fight for our freedom. The 'Bugs will wear special patriotic themed jersey to be auctioned off after the game and there will be a public post-game skating session.
The Mudbugs are also encouraging fans to bring donations for "Operation Appreciation" to Saturday's game. The program compiles and sends care packages to our troops serving overseas. They are collecting everything from tooth brushes and socks to playing cards and soccer balls to send in Christmas care packages to service men and women around the world.
