Arizona Sundogs News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro announced today the team has signed forward Marcus Pryde, has activated Marc-Andre Labelle from injured reserve and has placed forward Joel Irving and defenseman Clayton Barthel on 10-day I.R.
Additionally, defenseman Tyler Butler and forward Adam Smyth have each received a one-game suspension and Barthel a two-game suspension resulting from their roles in a second-period altercation during last Saturday's contest against the Texas Brahmas.
Butler and Smyth will sit out Thursday's game against the Evansville IceMen and Barthel will serve his suspension once he returns from injured reserve.
Pryde, 22, took part in Arizona's training camp in early October before being left off the regular season roster. The Oakville, Ontario, native skated for Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario during the 2009-10 season tallying eight goals, two assists and 18 penalty minutes (PIM) in 21 games.
Prior to skating collegiately, the 6-0, 189-pound forward played for two seasons in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL) with the Newmarket Hurricanes and Georgetown Raiders, registering 44 points (21g/23a) and 95 PIM in 47 appearances.
Labelle has recorded one assist, two PIM and a plus-1 rating in one game with the Sundogs.
Irving has appeared in eight contests with Arizona this season collecting three assists and two PIM.
Barthel has notched one assist and two penalty minutes in eight games.
Arizona (2-6-0) looks to snap its five-game winless streak as it continues a season-long eight-game road trip this Thursday at 6:35pm (Arizona time) against the Evansville IceMen. Listen to the game live online at www.cattlecountryradio.com and on KDDL 'Cattle Country' 94.3FM, the Official Radio Home of Arizona Sundogs Hockey.
