Pink in the Rink:
The Quad City Mallards partnered with Genesis Health System and Cumulus Media in association with KWQC HD and the Dispatch Argus to raise $19,800 for the Genesis Health Services Foundation through the Mallards' "Pink in the Rink Night" silent and live jersey auctions Saturday, November 6. The highest bids came for Mallards' captain Tyler Kindle's jersey and alternate-captain Ryan Palmer's jersey, which each sold for $1,000. In addition, $2 from every ticket sold for the game is also being donated to the Genesis Health Services Foundation.
Teddy Bear Toss:
The Mallards' Saturday November 13th game against the Arizona Sundogs will feature a Teddy Bear Toss presented by CBS4 and B100. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped teddy bears to the game to throw onto the ice after the Mallards' first goal of the game. The teddy bears collected from the ice will be donated to the Festival of Trees for construction of the Zoo Tree, which will be donated to children in need at the conclusion of the Festival. Saturday night's game begins at 7:05 pm at the i wireless Center.
Upcoming events:
Wednesday, November 10- Terrace Bluff Head Start: Mike McLean and Adam Maccarone will join children at Terrace Bluff Head Start to speak about hockey, answer questions and let children try on hockey gear.
Thursday, November 11- Post-Game Party at T.G.I. Friday's: Following the game against the Missouri Mavericks, Mallards fans are invited to join the team for a post-game party at T.G.I. Friday's. Friday's is located mere feet away from the i wireless Center at 1425 River Drive in Moline.
Friday, November 12- Get Jazzed for the Holidays: The Mallards are excited to be part of the Get Jazzed for the Holidays open house Friday night at the Quad City Convention and Visitor's Bureau located at 1601 River Drive in Moline. From 5:00-6:00 pm, Mallards Tyler Kindle and Obi Aduba will speak with fans and sign autographs. Mo Mallard will also be in attendance, and the Mallards will be offering buy one get one ticket vouchers for the December 22 game vs. the Evansville IceMen.
Saturday, November 13- Teddy Bear Toss: Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped teddy bears to the Mallards' game against the Arizona Sundogs to throw on the ice after the Mallards' first goal. The bears collected will be donated to the Festival of Trees Zoo Tree.
Tuesday, November 16- Durant Elementary Schools: Mallards players will visit with two different groups of Durant Elementary students to kick off their participation in the Mallards' Hat Trick for Reading program, talk about academics and hockey and answer questions.
Tuesday, November 16- Rock Falls Family Reading Night: Family Reading Night is a project of the Illinois State Library where families shut off their TV and read together. Two Mallards players will read with a group and have an autograph session starting at 5 pm at the Rock Falls Public Library.
Wednesday, November 17- Davenport Boys and Girls Club: Mallards players will speak with members of the Davenport Boys and Girls Club, sharing their experiences in hockey and the importance of hard work as well as answer questions and sign autographs.
Donation update:
The Mallards continue to make donations to local causes and charitable organizations. New recipients include: River Valley District Library, Rogers Twins Benefit, Wilton Volunteer Fire Dept., National Association of Women in Construction, Sherrard Volunteer Fire Department, Rampage Softball, Children's Miracle Network Runway to Healing, Christ the King Winter Snow Ball, Big Brothers Big Sisters Breakfast with Santa, Shawn Chandler Benefit, QC Hitmen Softball, Bowling Over Cancer Celebration of Life, Whiplash U8 Geneseo Soccer Team, QC Firebirds Softball, Benefit for Steve Scott, Lady Rocks vs. Cancer, Austin Riviera Benefit, Twelve Days of Christmas, Moline Assembly Rainbow Girls Toys for Tots Silent Auction, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Scrapbook Crop for St. Jude, Park View Women's Club Supper with Santa, and WQPT's Champagne on the Rocks.
