Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs came up short in their only exhibition game of the year Thursday night at the CenturyTel Center, losing 5-3 to the Odessa Jackalopes.

The Mudbugs carried the lead through the two periods of play before giving up four un-answered goals in the the third period. Austin Sutter opened up the scoring with a goal two minutes into the game off a deflected shot from the point. The Mudbugs showed toughness as Chris Murphy dropped the gloves twice in the first period.

Bossier-Shreveport was the lone team to score in the second period. Ryan Dudgeon scored on a beautiful backhand shot that he buried top shelf against goaltender Mike Gorman at the 7:45 mark. Mudbugs' goaltender Ken Carroll was tested during his period and a half of play and answered the call. He surrendered no goals through forty minutes of play.

Odessa finally kick started the offense in the third period and did so in a big way. Don Margettie fired the puck past Mudbugs goaltender John DeCaro at 4:18 to get the Jackalopes on the board. Josh Cartier, Jeff Ewasko and Mike Rutter would also score within minutes. Forbes MacPherson got the Mudbugs within a goal when he scored in the back half of the period, but Odessa's Matt Cressman would add the finishing touches with an empty netter in the final minute.

The Mudbugs now prepare for the season opener on October 20th, as they travel to Oklahoma City to face the Blazers. Single game tickets are on sale Friday, October 13th. You can purchase tickets at the CenturyTel Center box office or by calling 318-741-9700. Tickets are also available online at www.ticketmaster.com.
