Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that Ryan Mougenel will return to the club for his third season as assistant coach.

Mougenel played professionally for six seasons, including a total of 115 games in the American and International Hockey Leagues. He retired from playing following the 2002-03 season after winning the Kelly Cup Championship with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, along with Falcons' left wing Luke Curtin, and Matt Thomas, who was an assistant coach with the squad. Mougenel is also a co-owner of the Durham Fury, a member of the Ontario Provincial Hockey League (OPJHL).

"An integral part of any team is a well-rounded staff," Thomas said. "Ryan adds an element to the coaching staff that is hard to find. His experience as a player, and now as a coach, gives our players that much more of an advantage."

"I'm excited to come back to Fresno as Matt and I have some unfinished business," Mougenel said. "We made a commitment three years ago to bring a championship to Fresno and we want to honor that commitment."

Fresno opens training camp on Friday, with its first on-ice session scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at Gateway Ice Center.

The Falcons open the 2007-08 season on Friday, October 19, hosting the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:30 p.m. for an Opening Night Extravaganza, presented by Eye Q Vision Care. The first 1,000 kids 12 and under receive a replica Luke Curtin Falcons' jersey. Opening Night is also "Soccer Night in Fresno" and "Rally Around Citizens With Disabilities Night."
