Leading Scorer Tifu Returns For Second Season

Dayton, OH- The Dayton Bombers General Manager Don MacAdam announced today that Yannick Tifu, the 2007 American Conference Champion Bombers leading scorer, has agreed to terms for the 2007-08 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"I'm happy to be back for another season," Tifu said. "It'll be a totally new experience with only six or seven guys (from last season) coming back."
Tifu ("Tee-foo"), 22, recorded 89 points in 2006-07, including 28 goals and 61 assists, ranking as the third leading scorer in the league.
"Yannick is simply a premier player at the ECHL level," said MacAdam. "He has the best offensive skill of any player we saw last year."
The Brossard, Quebec, native also contributed seven goals and 10 assists in 22 games during the 2007 Kelly Cup Playoffs, ranking third on the squad.
"I still have that taste," Tifu said of making it to the Kelly Cup Finals. "Seeing the [Kelly] Cup on the ice makes me want to get back there."
Tifu, a 5-foot-11-inch, 185-pound center, was named In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for February 26 thru March 4, 2007 by scoring 13 points (4 G, 9 A) in five games as the Bombers went 5-0.
Tifu was acquired by the Bombers in 2006 from an early season trade with the ECHL's Phoenix Roadrunners for LW Dan Baum.
Tifu recently spent time at the Syracuse Crunch training camp, where he commented on the style of play in the American Hockey League: "They've got guys who are just coming from NHL camps, so the speed and tempo of the game is quicker. It definitely makes me want to step up my game."
"I believe this is the year that he makes it to the American League," MacAdam said.
The Bombers' Opening Night Extravaganza is Saturday, October 20, against the rival Cincinnati Cyclones (7:00 p.m.) at the Ervin J. Nutter Center. Group tickets for Opening Night are on sale now by calling 775-4747.
