KODAK - The Chicago Cubs announced a series of transactions that impacts their Double-A Tennessee Smokies roster prior to tonight's series opener against the Jackson Generals at Smokies Stadium.

Infielder Jonathan Mota has been activated from the Temporary Inactive List, returning after the birth of his child. In four games with the Smokies so far in 2014, the infielder has accumulated a .143 average (2-14) with one RBI.

In addition, right-handed reliever Lendy Castillo has been placed on the Disabled List. In three appearances with Tennessee this year, the 25-year-old has posted no record and 6.75 ERA (2 ER in 2.2 IP).

Tennessee's roster stands at 25 active players, in addition to Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta, who is with the club on a Major League Rehab Assignment. A revised roster is attached.

The Smokies begin a five-game series tonight against the Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, at Smokies Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m., with Baseball America's No. 28 overall prospect in RHP C.J. Edwards (0-0, 0.93) expected to get the nod for Tennessee, while right-hander Jordan Pries (1-0, 0.00) is scheduled to oppose Edwards for the Generals.
