Morin Collects Four Hits as 'Stormers Win

May 14, 2019 - Atlantic League (AtL) - Lancaster Barnstormers News Release

Parker Morin went 4-for-4, and Buddy Baumann fired six strong innings as the Lancaster Barnstormers defeated the New Britain Bees, 6-4, Tuesday evening at New Britain Stadium.

Morin banged out three singles and a double, scoring twice and driving in one. He scored the game's first run, leading off the third with a single and coming home on a sacrifice fly by Michael Martinez. Dan Gamache made it 2-0 with a double to the left center gap, scoring Devon Torrence.

In the fourth, Morin singled home Josh Bell who had doubled off the first base bag for a 3-0 Lancaster edge.

The Lancaster receiver continued his big night with a double in the sixth, scoring on a grounder by Torrence. He capped his big night with a single into right field in the eighth.

Lancaster's biggest hit of the night, though, came in the top of the fifth when Joe Terdoslavich banged a long two-run double to the gap in right center, plating two unearned runs off Rainy Lara (1-1).

Baumann (2-0) allowed six hits and a run over six innings. The lefty walked none and struck out seven in throwing his second consecutive quality start. New Britain scored the first run off Baumann this season in the bottom of the fourth when Jared James tripled off the wall in right field and scored on a sacrifice fly to left by Ozzie Martinez.

The Bees put a score into the Barnstormers in the bottom of the seventh. Martinez singled to center to start the inning and moved up when Logan Moore was hit by a Garrett Granitz pitch. Darren Ford launched a fly ball to deep left on which Torrence retreated but lost his footing in the slick outfield. The ball ticked off his glove, and New Britain had the bases loaded.

Alexi Amarista singled to right to drive home one, chasing Granitz from the game. Alejandro Chacin picked up the first out when Josh Bell snagged Jason Rogers' liner down the third base stripe. Alejandro De Aza cut the lead to two with a single to the right center gap. De Aza stole second, but Chacin was able to bring the inning to a halt by striking out both Deibinson Romero and Jonathan Galvez.

Bryan Harper walked James to start the eighth and send him to second on a wild pitch. The lefty struck out the next two and got Ford on a fly ball to right field to end the inning with the lead intact.

Cody Eppley survived a two-out double by De Aza in the ninth to pick up his fourth save.

The Barnstormers and the Bees meet again on Wednesday evening at 6:35. Lancaster will send lefty John Anderson (2-1) to the mound against right-hander Zach Stewart. Fans may tune into the Barnstormers YouTube Channel, beginning at 6:15.
