VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Wednesday that more than 2,000 tickets have already been sold for Sunday's inaugural Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) home opener against Toronto FC II at Thunderbird Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. PT with tickets available at whitecapsfc.com/wfc2tickets.
"We're looking forward to a fantastic atmosphere on Sunday as we celebrate another historic day for the local soccer community," said Whitecaps FC chief operating officer Rachel Lewis. "Bring your family and friends as we pack Thunderbird and welcome our Canadian rivals Toronto FC II."
Doors open at 2 p.m. and fans are encouraged to come early to enjoy a festive atmosphere that will include food trucks, activities, a variety of beer options, and live music. Attendees should be prepared for sunshine, as the forecast is calling for beautiful weather.
Family friendly activities will include juggling and face painting, with pre-game mini matches and halftime bubble soccer.
Among the food trucks at Thunderbird Stadium will be The Dog House, The Hungry Nomad, and Roaming Bowl.
Live music at this weekend's match will be provided by Warless, a local Vancouver band that plays a mixture of soul, roots, funk, afrobeat, reggae, pop, and fun. Whitecaps FC MLS anthem singer Marie Hui will sing the national anthems at Sunday's inaugural WFC2 home match.
Whitecaps FC mascot Spike will be on hand throughout the day while WFC2 players will be available for post-match autographs.
All tickets are general admission, with designated seating areas that cater to both families and supporters, with the latter including chanting, cheering, standing, and flag waving.
With Season Tickets available for as low as $118, WFC2 matches will be a unique and affordable experience for fans, families, students, and supporters.
