More Roster Moves for the Walleye

(Toledo, OH) - The National Hockey League's Detroit Red Wings have assigned defenseman Gleason Fournier to the Walleye from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. In a separate move, the Chicago Blackhawks have reassigned forward Byron Froese to the Rockford IceHogs while the IceHogs have assigned defenseman Ben Youds to the Walleye.

Youds was leading the ECHL in defenseman scoring when he was recalled to Rockford on January 9. The native of Maple Grove, Minnesota collected 27 points (4g, 23a) in 33 games this season with Toledo. In 22 games this year with the IceHogs, the 24 year old has one goal and 8 assists.

Fournier has appeared in 21 games this season with the Griffins, scoring once with 3 assists and 23 penalty minutes. The 21 year old defenseman has also skated in ten games this season with Toledo without a point but a plus 5. In 55 games last year with the Walleye, the Rimouski, Quebec native had 2 goals and 16 assists.

Froese is currently fifth in scoring on the Walleye with 12 goals and 21 assists. The Winkler, Manitoba native is also a plus 11 this season. The 22 year old appeared in 57 games last year with the IceHogs, scoring 4 goals with 6 assists.

Toledo Walleye return home on Wednesday, March 13 to host the Greenville Road Warriors. Fans come celebrate St. Patrick's Day weekend with the Walleye.
