ECHL Leading Scorer Pierro-Zabotel Called up to AHL

Forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel has been called up to the Charolette Checkers of the American Hockey League. Pierro-Zabotel makes his first trip of the season to the AHL. Charlotte currently ranks second in the South Division and fourth in the Western Conference in the AHL.

Pierro-Zabotel leads the ECHL in scoring with 74 points (21 goals, 53 assists) on the season. He has appeared in all 65 games this season for Gwinnett and has also notched a career best 22 multiple point games this season.

The Ashcroft, BC native holds a team season high with a nine-game point-scoring streak with Gwinnett. In his streak, he earned 16 points (four goals, 12 assists). Pierro-Zabotel has also scored for the Gladiators in each of the last six games and has totaled nine points in five games in March.

Last season, Pierro-Zabotel played with the Bakersfield Condors and earned 35 points (eight goals, 27 assists) in 71 games. Pierro-Zabotel was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2007 NHL draft in the third round.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
