New York Boulders News Release

(Newark, NJ) Pat Moran pitched eight solid innings of one run ball while tallying 11 strikeouts as the Boulders beat the Bears 4-1.

Rockland jumped out early when Chris Valencia blasted the second pitch of the game over the wall for his third home run of the year, to give the Boulders a 1-0 advantage. But Rockland was not finished as the very next batter Cole Kraft reached on a single, and was driven home by a Ryan Scoma single and an error by Bears right fielder Danny Santiesteban. The Boulders would add their third run in the bottom of the first on a Ryan Mollica groundout that scored Scoma and made the count 3-0 Rockland.

After the hot offensive start, it was the Pat Moran show the rest of the way. A Burt Reynolds homerun in the bottom of the third was all that Moran would surrender and the only run the Bears would score. The righty would only allow three hits after the longball and record 11 strikeouts in the victory. The 11 K's fell one short of Moran's season high of 12, which he recorded against Newark on May 24th.

Ryan Mollica would add the Boulders fourth run in the top of the eighth with a solo homerun. Rockland battles Newark again tomorrow in the third game of a four-game set at 11:05 Am.
