November 15, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
In celebration and support of Movember, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) is inviting fans of all ages down to Air Canada Centre for a MOpen skate this Saturday, November 17 in support of Movember Canada. The skate is part of MLSE's annual Movember campaign and a $10 donation to benefit Movember for all skaters over the age of 12 is requested. Guests 12 and under are free.
Air Canada Centre will open its doors between 8:30 and 11 a.m. for two hour-long skates, with the first session beginning at 9 a.m. and the second at 10 a.m.. Access is on a first-come, first-serve basis with a maximum of 250 skaters allowed on the ice at any given time.
Public skate participants must bring their own skates. CSA approved hockey helmets are mandatory for children 12 years of age and under and guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. For more information on the public skates, please visit www.mlse.com.
Later in the day, the Toronto Marlies will host their annual Movember game as they face the Hamilton Bulldogs at Ricoh Coliseum at 3 p.m.. The game will feature Movember-themed promotions and activities, as well as an appearance by mustachioed Leafs alumni, Wendel Clark and Mike Pelyk.
Last year MLSE's Movember team, MOple Leaf Sports + Entertainment, raised $115,000 and helped in spreading Movember's message to audiences across the country through its broadcasts, teams and venues. This year, MLSE is encouraging fans to join its Movember team to help bring the important messages around prostate cancer and men's mental health to Leafs, Raptors, Marlies and Toronto FC fans everywhere.
Fans that sign up to join the MOple Leaf Sports + Entertainment Movember team and raise more than $200 will receive a free Wendel Clark Movember silhouette t-shirt and an invitation to a free Movember wrap-up skate at Air Canada Centre later this month. The Wendel Clark Movember silhouette t-shirt is a new addition to MLSE's Movember campaign and is available for sale exclusively at Real Sports Apparel during the month of November (all skaters in attendance on Saturday will receive an exclusive 15% off offer on select merchandise at Real Sports Apparel that morning).
Interested Mo Bros and MoSistas can sign up for the MOple Leaf Sports + Entertainment team at http://ca.movember.com/team/549025 .
