St. John's IceCaps News Release
The St. John's IceCaps are proud to announce the team's Nov. 16 home game against the Albany Devils will be a night to honour and recognize the Canadian military.
Military Appreciation Night will see the IceCaps play Friday night's game in special military-themed jerseys. Six of these jerseys will be available in a special ticket draw during the current six-game home stand. Fans can purchase tickets on the main concourse for $2 each or three for $5, with the prize draws taking place during the final game of the home stand on Sunday, Nov. 25.
In addition to special uniforms, the military presence will extend inside and outside Mile One Centre. There will be two vehicles parked outside the building prior to the game for fan viewing, and a special demonstration by military personnel during the first intermission.
"The IceCaps organization is extremely humbled to honour all of those past and present who selflessly serve all Canadians," said IceCaps President and CEO Danny Williams. "The sacrifices made by members of our military should never be forgotten and we are proud to dedicate this special evening in recognition of their service.
"We are forever indebted to them and we hope this small gesture of remembrance will inspire those serving our country today."
Brigadier General Anthony Stack and Commander Larry Trim will join Mr. Williams on ice for a pre-game introduction and ceremonial puck drop. There will also be two military personnel carrying the American and Canadian flags on ice.
"I would like to thank the IceCaps for their tremendous support to the men and women of the Canadian Forces and their families," said Commander Trim, Commanding Officer of Canadian Forces Station St. John's. "It is truly an honour and a privilege to be recognized right here in our local community."
