Halifax Mooseheads News Release
Forty-six players will converge on Cole Harbour Place Friday (Aug. 18) to begin their quest for a spot on the Halifax Mooseheads' 2006 - 2007 roster, General Manager Marcel Patenaude confirmed today.
The Mooseheads' list of hopefuls includes five goaltenders, 14 defencemen and 27 forwards.
The list includes 21 players who were on the Mooseheads final roster last season, but Patenaude expects a wide open battle for this season's roster spots.
"We expect this year's training camp will be very competitive," Patenaude said. "Despite the number of returning players, we feel we have made some very good draft picks over the last couple of years, and these players, along with the players we have invited to this year's camp, will make a strong bid to become a part of this year's team.
Following registration and a meet and greet barbeque Friday, Patenaude and the Mooseheads coaching staff will get their first look at the players on the ice Saturday, when the players practice in two groups, Group A at 10:00 a.m. and Group B at 11:00 a.m.
