MONCTON, Tuesday, August 15, 2006 (QMJHL) - Moncton Wildcats Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations John Torchetti has reached back to a former player for his new assistant coach, today naming Sebastien LaPlante to the position.

A native of Cap-Rouge, PQ, LaPlante played four years at Northeastern University where he tallied 61 goals in his four year career. He turned pro in 1993 with the Greensboro Monarchs of the ECHL. He played for two years with the San Antonio Iguanas of the CHL, where his head coach was John Torchetti, now head coach of the Moncton Wildcats.

"I knew when he played for me that some day he was going to be a coach," Torchetti said. "He was a very knowledgeable player, a good communicator and someone who had the passion for the game that you need to be a successful coach."

LaPlante will join Tony Martino as Assistant Coaches under Torchetti. "Sebastien will be an integral part of our coaching team and I am very pleased that he made the decision to join the Moncton Wildcats," Torchetti said.
