QMJHL loses one of its greats
August 15, 2006 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, August 15, 2006 (QMJHL) - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League lost an important figure last Sunday as former star player and accomplished notary Jacques Locas Jr. passed away at the age of 52.
Jacques Locas Jr. played six seasons in the QMJHL: two with the Saint-Jérôme Alouettes and the following four with the Quebec Remparts. He hoisted the prestigious Memorial Cup Trophy as a member of the Remparts' 1970-71 championship team.
His total of 558 points is the sixth best showing in the history of the QMJHL and places him eighth on the Canadian all-time scoring list. Furthermore, he was the ultimate playoff performer, registering a total of 153 points in 73 games - first on the all-time QMJHL playoff scoring list, surpassing hockey legends such as Mario Lemieux, Guy Lafleur and André Savard.
He was inducted in the QMJHL Hall of Fame on April 3, 2002, in Montreal. The QMJHL and its teams would like to extend their most sincere condolences to the Locas family.
