Manitoba Moose News Release
The Manitoba Moose presented their annual year-end awards prior to the last regular season match against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Sunday, April 7.
When the organization handed out seven awards tonight, there were a couple of familiar players along with some new faces earning year-end honours.
First year Moose player Ryan Ready was selected as the Crocus Investment Fund Most Valuable Player Award. The aggressive left winger was a force all year long and finished third in Moose scoring. Going into tonight's match, he accumulated 55 points (23 goals, 32 assists) and had nine power play tallies.
Jimmy Roy walked away with two awards. In his fifth year with the Moose, he won for the second time the Continental Travel Julian Klymkiw Community Service Award and was selected, in the inaugural year, as Grapes Most Popular Player. The Most Popular Player award was voted on by fans throughout the season.
Defenceman Brain Chapman was a repeat winner as he was honoured for the second consecutive year as Proctor and Gamble Best Defenceman. Goaltender Alfie Michaud collected enough three stars selections to be presented with the Toromont Cat Three Star Champion Award.
