Moose finish as ninth seed

With tonight's loss at home and Worcester IceCats winning, the Manitoba Moose finished as ninth seed in the competitive Eastern Conference with 86 points. Manitoba will now play the eighth seeded Worcester IceCats.

With their ninth seed, Manitoba goes on the road for the best-of-three qualifying series which begins on Tuesday, April 9. There will be also be games on Wednesday, April 10 and, if necessary, Thursday, April 11 in Worcester.

The Calder Cup playoff format consists of 20 contenders being eligible, by clinching a playoff spot, to contend for the Calder Cup after the season ends on April 7. Within each conference, division winners are seeded one through three based on points, and the remaining clubs are seeded four to ten. Best-of-three qualifying series (played entirely at the home of the higher seed) – with the seventh seed hosting the tenth seed and the eighth seed hosting the ninth seed in each conference – will determine the 16-team field for the Calder Cup 2002 Playoffs. The conference quarterfinals will be best-of-five, and the remaining three rounds will be best-of-seven.
