Moose To Attend Walk For Leukemia And Lymphoma

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans Moose and members of the Amerks organization will participate in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Light the Night Walk" on Friday, September 26th at 7:30 PM at Monroe Community College (1000 E. Henrietta Rd.).

The event is a nationwide evening walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. Supporters will carry red balloons and cancer patients & survivors will carry white balloons. A special gold balloon will commemorate lives of loved ones who have lost their battle against cancer. Together, the illuminated balloons will help "light the night" as participants join the fight against blood cancers. The Amerks will open their 53rd AHL season on Friday, October 10th at 7:35 p.m. against the Syracuse Crunch at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. Rochester enters the season as the sole affiliate of the National Hockey League's Florida Panthers.

The team will also hold the first "Amerks Fan-Fest" to welcome the teams' 53rd season in the American Hockey League on Sunday, October 5th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The event is free and open to the public. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to meet the entire 2008-09 team, hang out with The Moose and even meet the new head coach, Benoit Groulx. The players will also mingle among the crowd and will be available for photographs, an open skate, and a full team autograph session all starting at 1:00 p.m.
