Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, today announced they will face 17 different opponents in 2008-09, including plans to renew rivalries with three Eastern Conference opponents - the Hartford Wolfpack, the Manchester Monarchs, and the Providence Bruins.

The full and complete 2008-09 Manitoba Moose and American Hockey League schedules will be released in the near future.

The Moose will once again face their North Division opponents such as the Grand Rapids Griffins, Hamilton Bulldogs, Lake Erie Monsters, Rochester Americans, Syracuse Crunch, and Toronto Marlies. As usual, the Moose will also play each member of the AHL's West Division which includes the Calder Cup Champion Chicago Wolves, the Houston Aeros, the Iowa Stars, the Milwaukee Admirals, the Peoria Rivermen, the Quad City Flames, the Rockford Ice Hogs, and the San Antonio Rampage. The exact number of games against the opponents is still to be determined.

The three scheduled Eastern Conference opponents are the most the Moose have faced in one season since 2002-03 when the Moose last faced the Wolf Pack, Monarchs, and Bruins. The Moose are 4-3-1-0 in eight games against the affiliate of the New York Rangers (the Wolf Pack); 1-2-0-1 in only four games against the affiliate of the L.A. Kings (the Monarchs); and 2-2-0-0 in four games against the Bruins. The Moose also defeated the Bruins in the AHL's 2003 Western Conference Quarter-Final 3 games-to-1. The Wolf Pack and Monarchs have never missed the AHL post-season in their 18 combined years of existence.

The Moose will once again play 80 games this season with 40 games at home and 40 games on the road. Fans can get their Manitoba Moose season tickets now by calling the Moose offices at 987-7825 or by going online at www.moosehockey.com.
