
Montgomery defeats Carolina

Montgomery, AL --- Matt Spring doubled in three runs while Jason Perry hit a three-run homer to lead Montgomery past Carolina for the second straight game 8-1 at Riverwalk Stadium before 6,489 fans on Saturday night.
Spring cleared the bases on a 1-2 pitch with a double high off the left-centerfield wall in the fifth inning as Montgomery (29-32) stretched its lead to 6-1. Spring would later score on a bases loaded walk.
Perry struck for a three-run jack clearing the 393' sign in right-center against starting pitcher Jerry Gil (L, 2-4).
Carolina, which was limited to one run for the third straight game, managed a bases loaded walk to Zack Cozart in the third inning from starter Ryan Morse (W, 4-6), but could do no further damage.
The Mudcats (21-41) had six hits in the game, including Jose Castro's two singles.
The series continues Sunday at 3:05 PM ET with Camilo Vazquez starting against LHP Brandon Mann.
