Pearl, MS - The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx scored five runs in the second and third innings to even this five-game series at a game apiece Saturday night. 5,024 fans saw the M-Braves fall to West Tenn for the 12th time this year.

The D-Jaxx got on the Braves early as they put up five runs on two hits and an error in the top of the second. Rich Poythress started the inning with a single and Callix Crabbe and Travis Garcia drew back-to-back walks to load the bases with no outs. Jose Yepez singled home Poythress and Crabbe and Garcia scored from second on a sac-bunt/error by Ezequiel Carrera. Yepez then scored on a groundout by Greg Halman and Carrera scored on a sac-fly from Marshall Hubbard. After two, the visitors led 5-0.

Mississippi couldn't stop the bleeding in the third. They gave up five more runs on four hits and two errors. Matt Mangini led off with a single and Poythress followed with a walk. Crabbe reached on a sac-bunt/error to load the bases again. Garcia doubled home Mangini and Poythress and Yepez singled home Crabbe. Carrera reached on an error that allowed Garcia to score. Hubbard singled home Yepez and the D-Jaxx led 10-0.

Willie Cabrera got the Braves on the board with a two-run home run in the eighth inning. It was his seventh homer of the season.

Kyle Cofield gave up 10 runs, six earned, on six hits in two innings and fell to 10-5 on the year. Michael Broadway threw three shutout innings in relief and Jeff Lyman threw two scoreless frames. Lee Hyde threw two scoreless innings.

Luis Munoz gave up two hits over seven innings to improve to 8-6 on the season. Luis Villareal gave up two runs in an inning on the hill and Brodie Downs threw a scoreless ninth to close out the game.

The M-Braves and D-Jaxx play game three of this five-game set Sunday afternoon at Trustmark Park at 1:05. The Braves will send lefty Jose Ortegano to the hill while the D-Jaxx will counter with righty Dan Cortes.
