Monterey Bay Aims to Defend Cardinale Stadium against Visiting Las Vegas
April 12, 2024 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Monterey Bay FC News Release
SEASIDE, California - Monterey Bay F.C. (2-1-2, 8 points) returns home Saturday for a 7 p.m. PT kickoff on Defend The 831 Night at Cardinale Stadium against Las Vegas Lights FC (3-2-0, 9 points) in Week 6 of the 2024 USL Championship regular season, presented by U.S. Army. Saturday's match will be broadcast locally on KION (46 & 23 over the air, 46 Dish, 27 DirecTV and 5/705 HD Xfinity), with live streaming available on ESPN+.
Monterey Bay F.C. hosts Western Conference foe Las Vegas Lights FC this weekend, a surprise team in the standings thus far into the campaign. Coming off of a solid shutout win over Oakland Roots SC last Saturday that saw a late Chase Boone goal secure all three points, the Seasiders return home to Cardinale Stadium for Defend The 831 Night. After dropping its first two matches of the season, Las Vegas enters this weekend's contest having won each of their last matches over El Paso Locomotive FC, Oakland Roots SC, and San Antonio FC. With both sides carrying positive momentum going into the weekend, there should be no shortage of entertainment in Seaside.
The Crisp and Kelp and Lights FC last met at Cardinale Stadium in Seaside on September 16, 2023, a night in which Monterey Bay completed a come-from-behind victory. Goals from Ugo Okoli, Alejandro Lara, and Rafa Baca erased two early goals from the visitors to earn all three points in a 3-2 win. Heading into the weekend, Monterey Bay owns an all-time 3-1-0 record against visiting Las Vegas, including an undefeated 2-0-0 mark in Seaside.
