Alameda County Board of Supervisors Meeting Next Tuesday

Dear Oakland Roots and Soul SC Family,

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support you have shown over the past month in championing Oakland Roots and Soul SC's ongoing stadium and facility endeavors. The Board of Supervisors has already voted to move forward on these important efforts, and we need the County to finish what it started, and approve these transactions.

As we gear up for the upcoming Alameda County Board of Supervisors meeting next Tuesday, we urge each of you to participate either by dialing in or attending in person to lend your support during the public forum.

Here's what we're asking you to advocate for:

Please ensure the County fulfills its commitment to lease the Malibu Lot to Oakland Roots and Soul SC - this is vital to establishing a stable, long-term home for the Club.

Please vote to finalize the sale of the 1220 Harbor Bay Parkway Training facility to Oakland Roots and Soul SC.

Please encourage the JPA to expedite the agreement for the 2025 season at the Oakland Coliseum.

The Board should direct staff to finish what has been started. We need to finalize these deals so the Oakland Roots and Soul SC can play in Oakland!

Here are some reasons why the Board should support the request:

Oakland Roots and Soul SC are integral to the future of sports in Oakland.

Oakland Roots and Soul SC are a community-driven organization with a deep commitment to the spirit of Oakland and the transformative power of sports for social good.

Oakland Roots and Soul SC are dedicated to fostering economic growth by creating employment opportunities for Oakland residents.

It is important to support the opportunity for the first-ever professional women's sports team in Oakland.

Oakland youth need a professional team in their area to aspire to.

We have lost all our professional teams. Oakland Roots and Soul SC are the best hope.

Logistics: The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16th, at 9:30 am.

We'd love to have as many supporters show up in person - a strong visual showing in the County chambers will have an impact.

We also understand that this meeting is happening during normal work hours, so if you cannot be there in person, we encourage you to add your voice via Zoom (instructions below).

We want to show broad support but also want to respect the Board's time. To the extent a prior speaker has made your points, it's okay to simply say you agree with a prior speaker.
