Norfolk Tides News Release
Luis Montanez had three hits and drove in three runs, lifting the Norfolk Tides to a 7-6 win over the Indianapolis Indians Wednesday afternoon.
Montanez led a season-high 15-hit attack with a single, double and two-run home run, as the Tides knocked off the Indians for the first time in six games this season. Montanez, who now has a 10-game hitting streak, doubled home a run in the second inning and hit his second home run of the year in the fourth frame.
Mike Cervenak continued his hot hitting by collecting three base hits, upping his average to .362 and giving him 25 base hits this season, second-most in the International League. He finished the road trip 11-for-25 (.440) with three home runs and five RBI.
J.R. House, Jon Knott and Ruddy Yan each added two hits apiece in the win, as Norfolk finished up their six-game road trip at 4-2.
Nick McCurdy (1-1) picked up the win in relief for Norfolk, allowing one run on two hits in 2.0 innings of work. Cory Doyne worked around a one-out double in the 9th inning to record his fifth save of the season, which is tied for the league lead.
Shane Youman (0-3) took the loss for Indy, yielding six runs (five earned) on nine hits in 5.0 innings.
The Tides return home for a four-game home-and-home series with the Richmond Braves beginning Thursday night from Harbor Park. RHP Jon Leicester (0-1, 4.05) is slated to take the hill for Norfolk with first pitch set for 7:15.
