Louisville, KY - The Richmond Braves beat the Louisville Bats 5-1 Wednesday at Louisville Slugger Field. Three Braves pitchers racked up 12 strikeouts while holding the Bats to five hits as the Braves gained a split of the two game series.

Richmond grabbed a 2-0 lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Martin Prado and an RBI double by T.J. Bohn. The Braves opened up a 3-0 lead in the sixth when Bill McCarthy smashed a home run. Richmond tacked on two more runs in the ninth on an RBI double by Iker Franco and a Wes Timmons sacrifice fly. The Bats averted a shutout with a run in the last of the ninth when Aaron Herr chased a run home with a double.

Buddy Carlyle pitched five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win. Paul Bush notched a save. Homer Bailey took the loss. McCarthy, Franco, and Carlos Mendez had two hits each for the Braves. Jeff Keppinger had two hits for the Bats.

The Braves continue their road trip at Norfolk Thursday at 7:15. Kevin Barry is scheduled to pitch for the Braves vs. John Leicester.
