ROSEMONT, IL - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, were defeated by the Chicago Wolves on Sunday at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL, by a final score of 4-2. With the loss, the Monsters fell to 3-5 overall this season and with a .375 points percentage, currently sit alone in eighth place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

The Wolves claimed a 2-0 lead on Sunday thanks to first-period even-strength scores from Magnus Paajarvi and Brad Hunt at 4:31 and 10:35, before T.J. Tynan hoisted a Markus Hannikainen feed past Chicago net-minder Jordan Binnington at 17:57 of the first to cut the Wolves' lead to 2-1. The goal was Tynan's 100th career AHL point.

In the middle stanza, Hannikainen and the Monsters struck quickly, as the second-year winger notched his fourth goal of the season at 1:19 of the period, an equalizing tally set up by Oliver Bjorkstrand that came at even-strength. Chicago clawed back into the lead at 7:18 with a five-on-five marker from Bryce Gervais and capped the scoring with the third period's lone tally, a left-point Chris Butler wrister that evaded Cleveland goaltender Anton Forsberg at 15:25 of the period.

Forsberg fell to 3-3-0 in net for the Monsters this season despite making 22 saves, while Binnington improved to 2-2-0 between the pipes for Chicago by virtue of a 22-save performance.

Next up for the Monsters, it's a Thursday road clash vs. the Manitoba Moose with full coverage, live from MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB, underway at 8:00 pm on 99X and the Monsters Hockey Network.
