Monarchs Sign Three Players, Including Former Captain

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the top affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have agreed to terms on one-year contracts with defensemen Richard Seeley and Eric Werner and right wing Ryan Murphy, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.

Seeley, 26, appeared in 186 games with the Monarchs, recording 41 points (8-33=41) and 285 penalty minutes during his three years with the team (2001-04). The 6-foot-2, 215-pound native of Powell River, Britsh Columbia, split time between the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the Norfolk Admirals during the 2004-05 season. The former Monarchs captain collected eight points (2-6=8) and 108 penalty minutes in 47 games with the Sound Tigers and 17 penalty minutes in 12 games with the Admirals.

Murphy, 22, appeared in five regular season games and two playoff games with the Monarchs during the 2004-05 season, recording two penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 183-pound native of Rumson, New Jersey, finished his collegiate career with the Boston College Eagles, collecting 12 points (4-8=12) and 36 penalty minutes in 40 games during his senior year (2004-05). Murphy registered 59 points (25-34=59) in 156 games for the Eagles during his four-year (2001-05) college career.

Werner finished his senior year at the University of Michigan with a career high 31 points (8-23=31) and 48 penalty minutes during the 2004-05 season. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound native of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, finished his Wolverine career with 92 points (26-66=92) and 158 penalty minutes in 144 games (2001-04).
