Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, PA - Bobbling bellies, pop-up Penguins and special swatches of shirts highlight the items to be handed out at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza during the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 2005-06 season.

The Penguins will be giving away promotional items at 15 home games throughout the season, an increase of four giveaways over the 2004-05 total.

There are several new items that will find their ways into the hands of Penguins' fans this season. The Penguins' mascot, Tux, will be featured on a pair of giveaways - the McCabe Mortgage Group Tux Bank on December 28 and the BlueCross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and Highmark BlueShield Bobble Belly to be given away on January 18.

Returning favorite Dennis Bonvie will be immortalized with his very own Jack in the box - a Bonvie in the box, on this occasion - also sponsored by the BlueCross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and Highmark BlueShield on March 22.

Also on the schedule are four Dodge Limited Edition Game-Worn Jersey Card nights. Sweaters worn by the Penguins on opening night will be cut up into 1,000 pieces each and incorporated into limited edition trading cards. Five players will be featured on each of the four giveaway nights, with fans receiving one card randomly.

The Penguins will also hold several fun theme nights throughout the year, including 80's Night on November 19, when all fans will be encouraged to tease up their hair, pull on their parachute pants and don their day-glow clothing for a trip back through time.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins open their seventh season in the American Hockey League on October 5, when they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:05pm. Season tickets and partial ticket plan packages are on sale now. Contact the Penguins at (570) 208-7367 for more information.
